Use Case: Submitting Homework

Guide for students completing and submitting homework assignments on Speakly.PRO.

Step 1: Access Your Homework

Go to "Homework" in the sidebar. The "Pending" tab shows all assignments with due dates. Click any homework to open it. You can also access pending homework from the Dashboard widget or from a notification.

Step 2: Review Assignment Details

The assignment header shows title, course, teacher, due date (with countdown), status, and points possible.

Scroll through all instructions before starting! Missing a requirement can affect your grade.

Step 3: Complete the Work

Exercise-Based Homework

  1. Read each question
  2. Select or type your answer
  3. Submit individual answers
  4. Immediate feedback (if enabled)

Writing Assignments

Write in the text editor with rich text formatting, word counter, spell check, and auto-save.

File Upload Tasks

  1. Click "Upload File"
  2. Select file from computer
  3. Wait for upload to complete
  4. Verify file name and size

Supported Formats:

  • Documents: PDF, DOC, DOCX, TXT
  • Audio: MP3, WAV, M4A
  • Images: JPG, PNG, GIF

Speaking/Recording Tasks

  1. Click microphone icon
  2. Allow browser microphone access
  3. Record your response
  4. Listen to playback and re-record if needed
  5. Submit recording

Step 4: Save Your Progress

  • Exercise answers, text input, and file uploads auto-save every 30-60 seconds
  • Use the "Save Progress" button before closing the browser or after major sections
  • To resume later, return to Homework → Pending → click the assignment

Step 5: Submit Assignment

Locate Submit Button

Usually at the bottom of the assignment. May say "Submit Homework" or "Turn In".

Final Confirmation

Review any warnings. Confirm all tasks are complete.

Click Submit

Click "Submit Assignment" and wait for processing.

Confirmation Message

Success message appears. Submission timestamp recorded. Status changes to "Submitted".

After submission:

  • Assignment moves to "Submitted" tab and cannot be edited
  • Teacher is notified and will review, provide feedback, and assign a grade

Step 6: Track and View Feedback

Track Submission Status

Go to Homework"Submitted" tab to check status:

  • "Submitted - Awaiting Review"
  • "Under Review"
  • "Graded"

Viewing Feedback

When graded, go to "Completed" tab → click the assignment to see grade/score, teacher feedback, correct answers (if shared), and comments on specific sections.

Special Situations

Requesting an Extension

  1. Open the homework assignment
  2. Click "Request Extension"
  3. Select new proposed due date and provide a reason
  4. Submit and wait for teacher approval

Not all teachers allow extensions. Request early for the best chance of approval!

Late Submissions

Submission may still be possible after the due date but will be marked as "Late" and may receive a penalty at teacher's discretion.

Resubmitting

Most homework is single-submission. Resubmit only if the teacher explicitly opens resubmission for your assignment.

Troubleshooting

Can't Find Homework

  1. Check "Pending" tab (not "Submitted")
  2. Verify you're in the correct course
  3. Refresh page
  4. Contact teacher to confirm assignment

Submission Fails

Possible causes: internet connection lost, file too large, required fields empty, session timeout.

  1. Check connection
  2. Compress files if too large
  3. Fill all required fields
  4. Refresh and try again (save work first)

Uploaded Wrong File

Before submitting: Click X to remove the file, upload the correct one.

After submitting: Contact your teacher immediately.
