SpecialText Highlights
SpecialText is a unique feature of the Lex Editor that lets you apply colored background highlights to text. This is particularly useful in language teaching for:
- Highlighting vocabulary words in a specific color
- Color-coding grammar elements (e.g., verbs in blue, nouns in green)
- Drawing attention to patterns or word roots
- Marking errors for correction exercises
How to Apply SpecialText
- Select the text you want to highlight
- Click the text color/highlight dropdown in the toolbar
- Choose a background color
- The highlight appears immediately
To remove a highlight, select the text and choose "No color" or "Clear formatting."
Floating Format Toolbar
When you select text, a floating toolbar appears above the selection with quick access to formatting options, text color, link insertion, comments, and code formatting.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I format text inside exercises and widgets?
Some widgets support inline formatting (bold, italic) within their content areas. Others, like matching pairs or true/false statements, use plain text. The widget configuration panel will show what formatting is available.
